`TAG McLaren audio is set to become the first company to implement Dolby Pro Logic II in a consumer product. The AV32R (pictured) will soon be available with Pro Logic II as standard, or as a chargeable upgrade for existing owners.

`Pro Logic II is Dolby's new technology to decode both existing Dolby Surround encoded material and conventional stereo recordings. Roger Dressier, Director of Technology Strategy, explains: "Pro Logic II was designed from the outset to convert conventional stereo music recordings, which will be with us for some time to come, to a natural, believable surround experience." Like Pro Logic, Pro Logic II has a centre speaker and stereo front speakers, but unlike Pro Logic, Pro Logic II also has stereo, full-bandwidth surround speakers.

`More and more people are becoming accustomed to surround sound material, in both film and music, and they want non-surround material to take advantage of their surround playback systems. Pro Logic II addresses this problem, providing an elegant and natural-sounding solution.
