As a scientist, I was disappointed in Riddick's predecessor movie, Pitch Black, for its obliviousness to the laws of Physics. Examples include:
1. flying creatures with wings far too small for their mass to keep them in flight,
2. a solar system with three stars that somehow maintains planets in stable orbits, and
3. a planet with three suns all of which are occasionally completely eclipsed simultaneously and for a duration of hours/days.
I know Pitch Black was low budget, and maybe they couldn't afford a science consultant. I expected more from Chronicles of Riddick, but Diesel, Director Twohy, and a mammoth budget didn't deliver. It's another Vin Diesel movie with a swiss-cheese plot, plenty of action and effects often with no apparent purpose, and remarkably little else. Essentially this is a movie for the 13-17 year-old crowd that either isn't particularly intellectually inclined or is just interested in some mindless entertainment. Once again Vin Diesel demonstrates that he is less articulate in his native language than Arnold Schwarzenegger was speaking a new second language in Conan the Barbarian. When will Hollywood film makers learn that there is more to casting an action hero role than recruiting a silly-monikered hardbody with a 3rd-rate intellect and laughable acting skills? Come on Hollywood, stop assuming the movie viewing public is brain-dead.

Мало этого, он даже не потрудился поинтересоваться биографией Ван Дизеля прежде чем отпускать язвительность в адрес его произношения...
