Let’s get back to our old favourite, the Dinosaur CE. Basically, the plot thickens. Ron Bailey reports that on his Rotel RDV985 DVD player disc 2 plays OK, but disc one keeps flicking into different aspect ratios, seemingly at random!

But not everyone is an unhappy bunny. First, John Aves reports that the Dino CE plays just fine on his Sony 725. But more surprisingly, Anthony Masi reports that, although it takes ages to load (up to 20 seconds), disk 2 of the CE does work on his Pioneer 717, and on a Samsung 709 he has access to. This latter information contradicts earlier reports, suggesting that the problem here could be a bad batch of discs, rather than a problem with all the discs made. This would also explain why problems in America seem to be fairly rare.

So if you’re one of those people having trouble, it might well be worth you returning the disc as faulty and getting another one sent over. If anyone has done this and has good or bad news to report, please let me know!

Finally, Paul Rollinson tells us that he has heard from a reliable source that the version of The Omen found on Fox’s Omen Boxset is pan and scan, while the standalone version of the movie is in widescreen...
