На английском сайте Пионера появилась официальная информация по отзыву (текст ниже). Здесь ведь есть у кого-то 859-й, проблем не было?
А то я как раз собрался взять его.

Urgent information for those with a Pioneer VSX-839RDS and VSX-859RDS AV receivers.
Pioneer has recently discovered that some VSX-839RDS and VSX-859RDS AV receivers sold from November 2000 to 31 January 2001 may be affected by a quality problem. The possible failure of an internal component could result in these AV Receivers switching themselves off under certain conditions.
If they are then switched on and off repeatedly, the internal circuit-board might break down causing smoke to appear from within the unit. However, extensive tests conducted by Pioneer have confirmed that this does NOT result in fire.
However, in the interest of customer safety and in accordance with our stringent quality control procedures we are offering to check all potentially affected units and then carry out any necessary repairs on a free of charge basis. Of 4,686 affected units sold in Europe only 97 are in the UK.
ACTION
Any one who owns one of the affected models should immediately disconnect it from the mains supply. They should then contact the Pioneer AV Hotline on 0800 0850202 (Seven days a week, between 8.00am and midnight) to find out how the recall process will operate.
We would like to confirm that NO other Pioneer models are affected and that we are taking all possible steps to ensure that this kind of problem does not occur in the future. We would also like to express our sincere apologies to all owners of VSX-839RDS and VSX-859RDS AV receivers for any inconvenience this recall may cause.
