Пишут, что прекращают длеать привода для потребительского рынка - не выдержали ценовой конкуренцыи. Wesleytech.com writes us that the Japanese website Shinmai is reporting that the Plextor brand name will dissapear from the consumer market. Over the years the strong optical storage brand slowly lost market shares due high prices and many new competitors in a highly competitive market. 'King of Quality' as the brand promoted itself was in many eyes a true slogan but unfortunately the price of the claimed quality was simply too high. Parent company Shinano Kenshi is a large technology company that manufacturers much more than just CD and DVD burners, but is no longer able to compete with much cheaper Taiwanese and Korean brands. The Plextor brand will still be used for industrial equipment and digital sound recording/playback equipment for visual handicapped people. |
