Pioneer GB has just begun leaking tentative information about its forthcoming DVD players to the UK specialist press and dealers. Models such as the DV-737 and DV-636D have much upgraded picture adjustment capabilities together with Pioneer’s newly developed Trick Play Processor, which affords frame-by-frame advance in forward and reverse. The DV-737 is a much higher level model than the stalwart DV-717 as it features progressive scan component video output alongside the usual SCART and S-Video connectors. Furthermore, it is the first DVD player with sufficient processing power on board to allow it to play MPEG2 digital video in reverse! It also features a host of parameter adjustments not seen on previous models such as choice of IRE setting, white level and black level adjust, gamma correction and a new processor for various digital noise reduction adjustments that Pioneer has dubbed its DNR-PRO circuit. DV-737, DV-636D and a new entry-level DV-535 will all be launched around September. More details and pictures in the next edition of the BAJ. |
