I got some info from my local Sony and Yamaha dealer about the HS51. I am a little confused . In the spec sheet it reads "High Contrast Ratio of up to 6000:1 (Advanced Iris Auto Mode)". But under the list of features it states "Contrast Ratio 1300:1 : (Cinema Black Pro)". Can anyone make sense of this?

Also it does state the resolution as; "Resolution: 1280 x 720 (x3) or 2,764,800 Total Pixels". So they either are now producing their own 720P panel or there buying the Epson panels. Probably the later.

translation of the Epson D5 press release and they (Epson) are indeed claiming a 500% increase in contrast ratio from native 1800:1 to 9000:1 for their proto projector using the D5 panels.

Yes, the native contrast ratio on D5 is specified about 50% above native 1200:1 D4 to native 1800:1 for the D5.

Then Epson is using some unknown optical technique to turboboost CR 500% more on top of that to 9000:1. It seems that these are Eclipse like numbers...

Even with the huge improvement in the Epson 500 over previous LCD FP's, I am also having a lot of trouble believing these numbers being thrown around by the manufacturers (6000:1, 9000:1). How can you explain that with just a lamp servo? It will be interesting to see if there is a 4th LCD panel or where Eclipse will manifest itself. Hopefully we will know more in 3 weeks.
