Кстати, DVI тоже разным бывает - востроги поутихли (про Браво) (+)

I've had this combo for some time now and although this is far from a formal review here is my initial feedback. For reference, my other players are a Panasonic RP56 and RP82, all cables from Bettercables. All picture comparisons comments are with the RP82, all measurements made using Colorfacts and Avia.

The Sony properly displays 480P/720P/1080i from the D1 via DVI. The video output from the D1 is quite high, you will have to reset your picture control settings (lower). Colors seem slightly muted, and I end up with slightly a higher than normal color setting to achive the same level of color saturation. The brightness control needs to be lowered considerably to properly display (or not) Avia's darker than black bar. Here is where I start wondering if the low brightness settings plays a little havoc with the HS10 picture quality. Bottom line, it's very hard to get decent grayscale linearity using the D1, but very easy when using the RP82 (?!?). I plan to have an extended session with the combo this weekend so I'll revisit this later.

Displaying Avia test patterns shows rock solid resolution patterns for 720p and 1080i, but 480P displays some noise/softness. Between 720 and 1080 it's a toss up, but I'm slowly leaning towards 1080i. Does it blow away the RP82 ? No, it's very hard to tell the difference between the two. Actually, given the improved grayscale linearity I currently prefer the RP82. But that might change with a little tweaking.
