ULX Technology Is Here! Since the development of the moving coil loud speaker, it has been known that there are three basic truths to creating SPL. Cone Surface Area Power Handling Capabilities Excursion The ULX subwoofers by GSI represent the latest advances in all three categories.... First: The depth of the cones were extended to the limits of what could be controlled. This provides you with more cone surface area and extends the frequency response of the driver. Second: 26 awg wire over-lapped, and wrapped on a polymide Kapton fomer provides exceptional power handling capabilities. This combination of wire and former can easily withstand temperatures in excess of 350 degrees Celsius. This will allow the speakers to handle as much as 2.5 times their continuous power rating. Third: The heart and soul of these subwoofers is Global Sound's ULTRA LONG EXCURSION Technology (ULX). By manipulating key elements of both the motor structure and the suspension they are able to extend the excursion of the driver by as much as two times that of comparable subwoofers.
