' Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today introduced two Elite universal DVD players, the DV-47Ai and the DV-45A, that bring the emerging technologies of DVD-Audio and multi-channel SACD to consumers in a single box. The DV-47Ai also raises the bar on audio reproduction with dual i.Link output for high bandwidth connectivity. With more than 1,000 DVD-Audio and SACD titles expected to be released by year-end, Pioneer continues to lead the industry in providing universal players that offer consumers the greatest flexibility to listen to a wide variety of titles in their preferred format.

' As with all Pioneer Elite DVD players, consumers are assured the highest quality audio and video reproduction. The DV-47Ai includes 108MHz/12 bit video processing (54MHz/10 bit for DV-45A) and Legato PRO™, Pioneer's refined frequency range expansion technology for better music reproduction. They also offer Pioneer's PureCinema™ progressive scan circuit to faithfully reproduce the original film frames using 2:3 pull-down inverse telecine technology and display them progressively. If the DVD does not indicate telecine conversion, the PureCinema circuit will process the signal with advanced motion detection and create the new progressive image.

' Both the DV-47Ai and the DV-45A offer triple Burr Brown 192kHz/24 bit audio processing, six channel analog audio output, bass management, Dolby Digital™, DTS™ and SRS TRU Surround.

' "Both DVD-Audio and SACD provide unbelievable multi-channel experience for music and movies, but sometimes consumers can only find the title they want in one format or the other," said Craig McManis, vice president of marketing for home entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "We're giving them the freedom to buy one DVD player and be able to play discs from either of the two emerging formats. We were the first company to offer a universal player and now we're bringing even greater technology to the table with the i.Link connectivity."

' The i.Link technology is an industry standardized format, allowing for greater compatibility with other four-pin IEEE 1394 input connections. The DV-47Ai is a great product on its own because of playback capabilities, high-video resolution output, and utilization of i.Link for high-bandwidth audio connectivity. It can be further enhanced this fall when combined with Pioneer's VSX-49TXi, with its dual i.Link inputs that will enable the DV-47Ai to be used to its fullest potential.

' The Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai also offers the following outstanding video features: * Super-Fine Focus Filter with 4:4:4 video up-sampling

' Sixteen video parameter adjustments including Progressive Motion, PureCinema (on, off, auto), YNR, CNR, Mosquito NR, Block NR, Sharpness High, Sharpness Mid, Detail, White Level, Black Level, Gamma, Black Setup, Hue, Chroma Level and Chroma Delay. Once the desired adjustments have been made, they can be saved in one of three available user memory settings.
