After 4 days of testing the Pioneer 747 /w PAL PS mod I'm very pleased by the picture quality of the player.

I didn't notice any kind of frame loss however I would like to know if there is a "safe way" to find out if the player loses a frame or two.

I think there is a "Frame Loss Pattern" by Microsoft which can be found on the DVD Demystified Supplemented Disc.

My 747 is a Regioncode 2 version and was modified by Karsten Becker.
I think his modification was done very well and I can recommend the work and service of Karsten (it's actually my third Pioneer player that was modified by him).

I feel the picture quality of the 747 is outstanding (I don't care so much about the audio department) and it is the best player I can think of (with an affordable price tag).

However there are some bad news:

I can confirm the 747 still has the chroma upsampling bug.

I did some testing with Toy Story 2 (Regioncode 1 and Regioncode 2) with NTSC and PAL PS. The red is still "bleeding". My good old trustry Panasonic RP56 doesn't show the chroma upsampling bug.

Best regards from Germany,
