Oh, c'mon now, you knew it was coming, right? Just announced from Columbia is yet another edition of the sci-fi blockbuster Men In Black, entitled appropriately enough the Men In Black Deluxe Edition. No specs yet on this one, but expect it to be akin to a "Superbit Deluxe" title? Street date is 5/21, and price TBA. Stay tuned! Even weirder is the Stuart Little Deluxe Edition, which also streets 5/21 but is more annoying. Featuring only a full frame version of the film plus English 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby surround tracks, the extras appear to be the same as the previous edition, and include two audio commentaries with the director, animation supervisor and visual effects supervisor, two blooper and gag reels, the HBO First Look Special, visual effects featurette, artist animation tests, deleted scenes with optional commentary, still galleries, and tons of interactive and DVD-ROM games for the kids, plus trailers. New to this edition a new "A Look with Stuart Little" game plus a sneak peak at Stuart Little 2. Retail is $24.95, and no widescreen nor DTS version will be made available. Why they just didn't market this a two-disc Superbit Deluxe version is beyond me... Last but not least, watch for the box office bomb Slackers to hit DVD on 5/14, which features full screen and anamorphic widescreen versions of the film, English 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby surround tracks, filmographies and trailers. Retail is $24.95. |
