The film will be in a 2-disc, THX-certified package, with DTS 6.1 ES and Dolby Digital EX soundtracks, and will carry two versions of the film, one bizarrely stripped of special effects (I'm sure it'll make sense when we see it!). Details on the oodles of other extra features that will doubtless find their way onto the final release, the only ones we can talk about with any reasonable degree of certainty are previously unseen extra footage, and a featurette on the making of Episode II. ` `Fans of the other three movies in the series shouldn't expect the release of Phantom Menace to open the Star Wars floodgates, however; it seems unlikely that the DVD of the original Star Wars will appear until October 2002 at the earliest, with the other two movies not appearing until considerably after that. ` ` ` |
